Awakening

The spring flowering bulbs are especially challenging to paint on-site because of their extremely brief blooming periods. In a warm spring, crocus flowers can last only a few hours before withering, so getting outside to paint becomes a very pressing concern. The weather all too often is also not particularly conducive to sitting outside for long stretches of time. So I'm always very gratified when I manage to complete even a tiny on-site piece such as Awakening. Depending on how your browser has set the image, you are probably viewing this little gem at about life-size.
