Pennypack Creek

Pennyoack Creek

Pennypack Creek rises from headwater springs and wetlands in the Northern exburbs of Philadelphia, then gains strength along its middle mainstem in Montgomery County. The creek then drops into the vast, winding greenbelt of Philadelphia’s Pennypack Park before discharging into a broad mudflat on the Delaware River. On any visit to the creek, you could be following in the footsteps of John James Audubon, famed American naturalist who spent many hours in the Pennypack woods. I choose a lovely glade in Lorimer Park for this painting, which captures the cool shades of summer shade and the sparkle of running water.
