Sunrise - Fresh Snow

This small (8" x 10") painting was completed quickly in plein air technique as I watched the sun rise reveal the 10" plus of fresh snow that had fallen in my yard over night. I was inside, looking out a window as it did. The path I had shoveled the day before is still evident, although it was obvious I'd have to shovel it out again. I was fascinated by the infusion of brilliant, warm color into what had been a monotone landscape only moments before. And within a very brief time the sun would be hidden by clouds because the forecast predicted yet more snow!
