Tookany Creek - July

Tookany Creek - July

Tookany Creek meanders through southeastern Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, and then, further south, it is referred to Tacony and then as Frankford Creek. As such, it is one of Philadelphia’s five main watersheds, all of which flow into the Delaware River. While it can become a raging torrent when swollen by storm water runoff, in many places Tookany Creek is normally a placid, shallow stream overarched by venerable trees. I painted a particularly scenic bend while the hot yellows of July sunshine contrasted beautifully with the cool tones of the refreshing shade and glassy water.
