Wow! That's Summer!

I set the tomatoes and watering can up on the railing of my gazebo so I could paint this piece in natural light. My experience with tomatoes has been that you can only capture the glow they have at the peak of ripeness if you work outdoors. I'm delighted by the result. This is one of those paintings where the title says it all----that's how enthusiastic I feel about how it turned out, and how thrilled I am to know that the next time we have 2 feet on snow on the ground my tomatoes will still be reminding us of summer!
