The Breath of Spring

For a painter
who works outdoors such as I, spring is a season of hurry---the changes happening
in the landscape are so fast-paced an artist has to feel a sense of urgency
in order to capture them. What begins as a tentative hint of pale green in the
woods soon enough will become a massive canopy of deep shade. The Breath
of Spring is about those initial, subtle changes as seen in one tiny patch
of a woods near my home.
