Dawn - Fresh Snow

Nothing is as difficult to capture as the light of dawn on a snowy landscape. For this tiny painting I relied on photographs to block in the basic composition: The placement and size of the tree trunk, the woods behind it. But the real work was done looking out a window at the scene just aas the sun lit it for the first time.
