Around the corner from my home in Bucks County, PA., there is a pasture intersected by a swale, with several hedgerows behind it. Mist lays heavily along these poorly-drained soils on cool mornings such as the one portrayed in Evocation. The resulting landscape has an ethereal stillness and mystical sense of place. I sat at my easel and watched the mist burn away as the sun rose higher, but captured the moment in time that I found to be most visually---and emotionally---interesting.
