Fleecydale Rhapsody
![]() |
Fleecydale Road is often called the most scenic road in Bucks County. It runs between River Road (Rt. 32) and the hamlet of Carversville, following the meandering course of Pannacussing Creek. At times barely wide enough for one large vehicle, it's a perfect walking and biking route. I live about a mile and a half from the scene I painted as Fleecydale Rhapsody.
This is a great example of a small on-site piece painted quickly in about 2 hours one gorgeous summer afternoon. The lone bicyclist pushing through an upgrade in the painting was one of the very few people I saw that day. She had gone by earlier---when all I had completed was a pencil drawing---and was amazed when, on her return route a brief 2 hours later, I had a finished painting.
In that time the shadow-and-ligt pattern (all pink and blue) across the road had shifted a bit, but by than I had captured the moment of mid-afternoon, with the light coming almost directly down.
