Heirloom Apples

This stand of very old apple trees lines a backcountry road in a rural portion of Bucks County, PA. I painted them on a sunny spring afternoon, backlit as the sun rose in the sky.
I liked the way
the world behind the trees disappeared into sun glare as well as the uniform
spacing of the vintage trees, with their trunks all leaning at the same angle.
