Rhododendrons are incredibly beautiful, sensuous plants. I'm particularly drawn to the lush complimentary colors of their flowers and foliage, pinks, purples; blue-greens and chartreuse. This painting is all about the way light interacts with the plant, the cool reflected light off the waxy leaves, the transparent glow of yellow-green leaves and the crisp, ruffled, sunlit flowers. Luminous seemed the only possible title!
