Standing Corn
![]() |
Because I grew up in a rural area, corn left standing to dry before being cut and chopped into silage has always been a symbol of the change from summer to autumn for me. This field was bathed in an early morning mist when I found it. The painting is about the contrast between that soft mist and the stark outlines of the leaves and tree limbs with which it is framed.
