Under the Weather

I was fascinated by the graceful arching shapes of these grass tousles as they were covered by snow. They were just outside one of my windows, so I set my easel up inside in the warmth so I could paint what was outside, in the cold! The Junco flitted through the composition at one point, seeking a place to get out of the rapidly accumulating snow, and I added him to the painting after I had completed the background.
